Its main purpose is the collection and description of literature and research projects on foreign language research and teaching. With this focus as regards content the IFS is unique in Germany. Since 1998 Frank G. Königs has been the Head of the Information Centre for Foreign Language Research. == Purpose == The main work of the IFS is the documentation of publications in a literature database with approximately 67,000 entries. They are all counted among the field of foreign language research, especially methodology and didactics of modern foreign language teaching.
